Just stop thinking about it

Maybe it's not about trying harder to convince yourself that you're beautiful.

Maybe it's not about looking in the mirror & catching yourself when you want to scrutinize the aspects you don't like.

Maybe it's not about any of that at all.

Maybe it's just another day with Abbie Kate to get your mind right.

I just love two year olds.

Their feisty and fun and they make you forget about your issues.

And it's the best.

Because really, when you're running out of the house with a child and trying to remember the diaper bag, their shoes, your own phone and house keys, you have a lot less time or mental capacity to think about what your body looks like or how your clothes fit.

And when you're not thinking about your body, you get the popcicle, you enjoy the bite of chocolate almond croissant the coffee shop is sampling and you actually order what you want at Chipotle for dinner without second guessing it.

You drink the iced Americano black just because you wanted it black- not because you're trying to save calories

You start dancing when Abbie starts dancing to the Temptations song playing at the restaurant - and you don't care that you probably look like a fool or what your body even looks like because you're with your favorite little ham and her laugh is more important than anyone else's opinion.

Including your own opinion about yourself.

And you definitely say yes when little Abbie runs into your arms and shouts, "Ella!! Ella! Throw me in the AIRRRR!"

When you stop thinking about your body, you can enjoy your life more.

Your view expands. You start to see the things that really matter.

You get less critical.

You experience more joy.

And when you stop nit pocking at yourself all day long, your focus shifts.

And when you stop being obsessed with YOURSELF, you can grab a hold of the amazing, beautiful life God has for you.

And the memorable moments with Abbie Kate that will last a lifetime.

(I mean...those curls!!)

So today...

How can you stop obsessing?

What can you shift your focus to that will help you get out of your own negative mind?

Do you need to spend time with a 2 year old too??

Your skin isn't perfect?

Your jeans are too tight?

You feel gross and want to cancel your plans?

STOP LETTING THESE THINGS DICTATE YOUR LIFE, BABE!

Don't let the shame hold you back and hold you down.

You are what you think you are.

So let's start doing the little things to remind ourselves that our lives shouldn't be dictated by how we "feel about ourselves."

We are worthy because the God of the Universe says we are.

We spit in His face every time we question it.

We are already whole, so why are we fighting like hell to be perfect?

We need to see ourselves the way we actually are.

Perfect was never the goal after all.

P. S. The sky was unreal tonight. Cotton candy clouds for daysssss. I don't think sunsets like this ever doubt that they're beautiful. You shouldn't either.

P. P. S. One of the songs that was playing that got Abbie groovin' was "Soulful Strut" by the Young-Holt Unlimited. All I could think about was that handshake from the Parent Trap. Maybe Abbie and I will learn it someday.... https://vimeo.com/134672130
